Our School Vision: “Those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Our School Values: Happiness, Perseverance, Co-operation, Kindness, Courage, Honesty and Respect.
Our School Curriculum Drivers: Aspiration, Community, Inclusion and Language.
Community is not only a curriculum driver for the school, but it is at the heart of the school vision. Our aim is for everyone in the school’s community to flourish - to fly high and achieve – children and adults alike. Only when we have achieved this can we truly believe we have done our best for the pupils in the school.
There has been – and still is – a relentless ambition to support every family in the school community. First and foremost, we are school in the heart of the Blandford community and we serve the families who trust the school with their children. The school and its pupils then work to support the local, the national and the international community. The environment is an area the school knows it can positively influence change and helping everyone to live together in ways that support the planet.
Our Curriculum and Vision drives the ambition of the school – for all its members to thrive, flourish and achieve, our daily work is to enable and equip our pupils and families with the education and support it needs.
Inclusion is a vital piece of this work – we are proud to be inclusive and embrace uniqueness and difference as part of the work we do on a daily basis. We have a core ambition that every pupil achieves and makes progress - that they work towards their potential and meet the high expectations of the school. This inclusion and expectation is also for the parents/carers we work with – partnership and communication are key to establishing and maintaining purposeful relationships – working together for the good of the child.
Our pastoral outreach work is enabling families to overcome barriers and bring about positive change. As a school, we recognise we can only do so much – partnership with agencies and professionals ensures we maintain a core focus on the important work we do – ensuring every child flourishes and experiences life in all its fullness.
“The school’s uplifting Christian vision runs like a golden thread through every aspect of school life. As a result, parents trust school staff and greatly value the pastoral care and practical assistance on offer. Pupils experience school as a place of calmness, security and happiness, increasing their resilience and self-confidence.” SIAMs inspection report, October 2021.
The ethos and vision for community and living well together enables the school to encourage pupils to be a part of something greater and larger than the school itself. With a focus and acknowledgement that enabling families to thrive and flourish we will enable the child to do the same, means that the vision can truly be lived out
“Pupils stress the importance of being tolerant of different viewpoints, turn-taking and a willingness to respect everyone for their ideas and insights. Another example of Archbishop Wake’s uncompromisingly inclusive and enabling vision is to be found in the school library. A range of books with conspicuous themes of diversity, equality, acceptance and belonging are prominently displayed.” SIAMs inspection report, October 2021.
